The Disney shooting stars festival aims to inspire & engage pupils through active storytelling using characters and scenarios from popular Disney films such as Toy Story, Frozen, Lion King, Incredibles & Aladin. These events aim to develop pupils’ fundamental movement skills, subsequently support the development of physical literacy, speaking and listening, confidence & competence.

Schools can bring one class of 30 students to attend the festival from foundation, from year 1 or year 2.

We also encourage pupils to dress up in their favourite Disney Character, but still wearing correct footwear (trainers)

Schools can book one class in either an AM or PM slot. AM session will run from 10 – 12 & the PM Slot will run from 13:00 – 14:45.

Ks2 - 4 categories 3/4 Boys, 3/4 Girls, 5/6 Girls & 5/6 Boys. Schools team bringing minimum 4 runners, maximum 8 per category to score as a team. Top 4 runners places count towards team score and the winning school will go through to the County Event.

We can also enter the 1st place runner in each event as an individual unless they qualify with their school team.

One booking per school & if possible schools from LongEaton area

This fundamentals festival will consist of a range of stations with different types of Fundamental movement skills for the children to rota around. Activities will focus on FMS such as locomotion, throwing and catching.  

 The festival will take place indoors. Therefore students need to wear trainers.

Ks1 Mini Movers will consist of activities including parachute games, balancing and yoga at a Mini Movers festival. Sports leaders from Derby College will support the event alongside coaches from Erewash School Sport Partnership. Some of the activities planned are designed to promote active literacy such as incredible story-telling, which encourages children to tell stories though active play and is part of a new programme from the FA called Shooting Stars.

Animal safari games will mean children acting like their favourite animal, plus children will also balance bean bags on their heads while walking and they will take part in bowling and learning to dribble a ball. The most important thing is that the children are moving and being active and we will have so many activities on offer there is something for everyone.

This event will take part indoors.

This will be a festival for Ks1 pupils to practise hand/eye coordination, whilst having fun playing different activities. They will be helped by the sports leaders from Derby College and ESSP staff at the event, plus the teachers who bring them to the festival.

Pupils: KS1 Students, with SEND. This event will be suitable for students with autism, lower limb disabilities, and other physical disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy  

Number of students: schools should bring 15 PUPILS & ONE booking per school.

This is a PLUS event, specifically targeted at providing students with Special educational needs the opportunity to represent their school. The festival will feature a range of Games, including New Age Kurling, Boccia, and other target games.
